WHO THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES
The open call is addressed to improvisers and improvisation theorists interested in examining the philosophical grounds and consequences of their work. Relevant practices may be solo or collective, acoustic or electronic, idiomatic or non-idiomatic, interdisciplinary, movement-based, site-responsive, pedagogical, technologically mediated, community-based, research-led, or situated across multiple media. This range is indicative rather than exhaustive.
Projects may begin from a performance practice, an ensemble method, a theoretical problem, a pedagogical process, a technological system, a cultural or institutional question, or a broader artistic-research trajectory. Participants should be prepared to present work in progress, engage closely with the work of others, revise their positions in response to discussion, and contribute to a collective research environment.
The programme does not require participants to arrive with a complete philosophy of improvisation. Its purpose is to establish the conditions under which philosophical positions can be articulated, tested, differentiated, and developed through practice. Intellectual curiosity, critical openness, attentive listening, and a commitment to sustained exchange are therefore as important as the current state of any individual project.
