WORKING METHOD
The residency is organized around sustained exchange rather than one-directional instruction. Participants bring practices and projects situated within particular histories, techniques, communities, and questions. The group creates conditions under which those projects can be examined with rigor, generosity, attentiveness, and conceptual precision.
Presentation and discussion may engage live or recorded performances, scores, prompts, exercises, workshops, interviews, field notes, software, instruments, diagrams, essays, lectures, portfolios, documentation, or hybrid forms. No single medium is the default form of improvisational evidence. Materials are considered according to the questions they raise and the understanding they make possible.
Participants will define their terms, identify assumptions informing their decisions, clarify relations between conceptual propositions and embodied procedures, and distinguish artistic aims from the means through which they are pursued. Discussion attends not only to what a project intends, but also to how its premises are enacted through timing, interaction, materials, presentation, and reception.
Criticality is understood as a constructive, relational practice. Feedback should not merely affirm a project or measure it against an external stylistic norm. It should reveal the consequences of choices, identify tensions between claims and procedures, locate unexamined assumptions, and open paths for development. Participants will respond to others with the seriousness, care, and willingness to be changed that they expect for their own work.
The inquiry is intentionally plural. Its purpose is not to establish stylistic consensus, prescribe one philosophical tradition, or subordinate practice to theoretical explanation. Productive disagreement, methodological difference, and conceptual tension are necessary conditions of collective research. The programme seeks a discourse in which incompatible positions can be clearly stated, fairly examined, and developed through encounter.
